Volunteer Day: Pack and Give Back

On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, the Olympic Industries Operations team stepped away from their desks and into something even more meaningful: helping fight childhood hunger in British Columbia. We had the incredible opportunity to volunteer with Backpack Buddies, a Top 100 Five-Star Charity, as part of their Pack & Give Back program at their local North Vancouver warehouse.
In addition to donating $5,000 to support their mission, our team of 18 rolled up their sleeves and got to work—packing an astounding 1,175 bags of food for children in need across BC. These bags provide crucial weekend meals to kids who might otherwise go hungry once school cafeterias close for the week.
What made the experience even more memorable was the energy and enthusiasm from our team. Split into two groups, a friendly competition quickly emerged. Driving us to use every bag available and pack with purpose. It wasn’t just about numbers; it was about impact.
"The most rewarding part of the experience has been seeing our whole team get involved to make our community a better place.”
— Neha Samuel, International Operations Coordinator
“Hearing about how many children were still on the waitlist to receive food support showed how much of a need there still was. That made this volunteering experience more impactful.”
— Ella Forde, Receptionist & Marketing Coordinator
“It's important for businesses like us to give back because we are able to build relationships with our local community and get our team engaged.”
— Margo Yang, Head of International Department & Trade Compliance
For many on our team, this was more than just a volunteering event—it was a powerful reminder of how much need exists right in our backyard. The chance to contribute both time and resources to such a meaningful cause resonated deeply, with some calling it the best team event we’ve ever had!
At Olympic Industries, we believe in giving back to the communities that support us. Our partnership with Backpack Buddies is just one of the many ways we’re striving to make a positive impact beyond work.
